Resource Management for Jira is designed for the coordination layer where projects and functional teams (resource suppliers) meet. In real organizations, multiple projects run in parallel and compete for the same expert capacity — creating a many-to-many management problem that basic “single-team” planning tools typically don’t solve.

What the app helps you do​

  • Plan and staff cross-functional project teams via a structured resource request workflow between Project Managers and Team Managers (including one-click Jira task creation for accepted requests)
  • Keep plans realistic with effective calendars, exceptions, and availability-aware capacity calculations — including self-service availability requests with Team Manager approval
  • Give Team Managers the right controls in Team Management: default calendars, calendar overrides, availability approvals, and effective rate periods (standard/overtime/weekend)
  • Track plan vs actual with 1‑minute precision using Jira worklogs and timesheet baselines (allocated vs logged, available vs logged), with reliable worklog synchronization and optional worklog submission/approval + overtime tracking
  • Analyze demand, capacity, allocations, and actuals together in Advanced resource analytics, so you can review past performance and project future staffing pressure
  • Reduce follow-up friction with optional Jira notifications for action-required events (resource requests, worklogs, availability)
  • Export invoices (CSV/XLSX) for a selected project and date range, using submitted or approved hours (and optionally effective rates)
  • Stay in control at scale with hierarchical org structure (teams/RBS), scoped roles, and enterprise-ready filtering
